RHS Silver Medal Garden at Chelsea Flower Show

In 2007, before founding Kew Green, Peter Downes was part of the landscaping team that constructed Marshalls’ show garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Marshalls sponsored the show that year, and the completed garden received an RHS Silver Medal.
Building the RHS Chelsea Flower Show Garden
The garden featured large rectangular stepping stones set across dark water, alongside curved wall panels manufactured specially for the show by Marshalls using crushed glass and a resin-based material. Integrated lighting and precise construction reinforced the clean, contemporary design.
Experience Behind Kew Green
The project was one of Peter’s final landscaping jobs before establishing Kew Green. The experience of constructing a Chelsea show garden helped shape the high standards of workmanship and attention to detail carried into the company’s later projects.
