Founded by Peter Downes in 2007, Kew Green is an Oxfordshire landscape design and construction company specialising in complete garden transformations. We combine thoughtful design, skilled construction and practical experience to create gardens that complement the property and the way each client wants to use their outdoor space.
DESIGN INFORMED BY EXPERIENCE
Peter Downes leads Kew Green with extensive hands-on experience in landscape construction. He designs some gardens directly and collaborates with specialist garden designers when a project requires more detailed design input. This flexible approach keeps every design grounded in practical considerations such as materials, levels, drainage, buildability and budget—without losing sight of how the finished garden should look and feel.

From there, the scope, programme and key material choices are established before work begins. Practical matters such as access, levels and drainage are considered early, while any changes are discussed and agreed as the project progresses.
