Designing a Family Garden in Headington, Oxford
The layout balances generous paved areas for seating and entertaining with lawn and planting. This gives the family clearly defined places to spend time outdoors while retaining an open and practical garden.
Porcelain Paving and Millboard Decking
Large-format porcelain slabs were used to face the retaining walls, giving the raised areas a clean finish. Smoked Oak Millboard forms the raised deck, while Marshalls Symphony Blauw porcelain paving is edged with charcoal Vande Moortel clay pavers to define the main terrace.
Evergreen and Herbaceous Planting
Evergreen structure and herbaceous planting soften the paving, decking and retaining walls. Flowers in shades of pink, white and purple add seasonal colour around the main seating areas.
Bespoke Pergola and Corten Steel Fire Features
The black bespoke pergola frames a Corten steel log burner beside the main terrace. A separate Corten steel fire pit creates a second focal point within the garden and extends the use of the outdoor seating areas into cooler evenings.
