Large Family Garden Transformation near Chipping Norton

Working with garden designer Chooi-Leng Tan, Kew Green completed the first phase of a large family garden transformation near Chipping Norton. The work included a bespoke English larch pergola, new planting, a natural play area, woodland improvements, tree planting and irrigation across the garden.
The Brief
The first phase needed to make better use of the extensive garden while retaining its rural character. The priorities were to create a comfortable seating area, provide a dedicated play space for the children, improve the woodland edge and introduce new planting that would connect the different parts of the garden.
The Solution
Kew Green built a bespoke English larch pergola with a gravel seating area and surrounding planting beds. A generous bark-surfaced play zone was formed around the trampoline and play structure, with natural log seating and new trees helping it settle into the woodland setting. Further tree planting, woodland clearance and irrigation completed this stage of the work.

Woodland and Tree Planting
The woodland edge was cleared and improved to open up the garden while retaining its natural character. New trees were planted across the site to strengthen the landscape structure and provide greater interest as they mature.
The Completed First Phase
This first phase has created distinct spaces for relaxing, play and planting while preserving the garden’s rural setting. The pergola, natural play area, woodland improvements and new trees provide a strong foundation for the future phases of the garden.
