The Brief
The original garden was a narrow, overlooked plot with little structure or usable space. The design needed to improve privacy, introduce clear levels and create distinct areas for paving, planting, lawn and a hot tub without making the compact garden feel crowded.
The Solution
The new layout uses two levels, with porcelain paving and porcelain-clad retaining walls defining the main terrace and raised lawn. Cedar screening conceals the existing fencing and improves privacy, while raised beds, structured planting and stepping stones soften the hard landscaping and guide movement through the garden.
Garden lighting extends the use of the space after dark, while the pergola provides a strong focal point at the end of the garden. A dedicated hot tub area adds another year-round place to relax without overwhelming the compact layout.
The finished garden now provides clearly defined spaces for entertaining and everyday use. The layered design makes the narrow plot feel more generous, while planting and timber screening soften the surrounding new-build setting.
